So you might think I’ve given up here? Not at all. Here is the situation.
Carpet is fully fitted, although now covered in dust sheets.
Skirting is fully fitted.
The window was been full stripped of loose paint, which was most of it, sanding, primed / undercoated and now has its first coat of white gloss paint. It gets another today.
Yesterday I bought the door lock, handles and hinges.
Today I look at the door. The first obvious problem is the finished floor level has come up so the door now need trimming. This I will try and do with the hand held circular saw. I have a power planer but getting a good finish with that is a skill I don’t currently have. I just hope the saw doesn’t split anything out.
All being well I will then attempt to fit the lock and the hinges. Then I can look to hanging the door on the frame.
Exciting times continue.
And now for the evening update.
The window has had its second coat of white gloss and is probably finished. Tomorrow we will see how well it comes out.
The door is fitted, hinges, lock and handles.
The door and its frame have been painted, to door twice, on both sides.
I have also had a tidy up, putting away those tools I have finished with.
Tomorrow its the network and the telephone line.
