I have neglected this site again and I know that at least one person reads it. What can I say?
First, the back is much better. Following Sam’s advice I am no longer bothered by it at all. Considering the pain it gave me back in March, I am so relieved. I don’t want that again and playing with Axes is now avoided.
Well, clearly the effects of COVID-19 has lasted a LOT longer than anyone could have guessed. There is no point in beating anyone up for not knowing this would happen, how could we have know? For me, I am working from home very effectively and a, quite happy with this arrangement. We were asked about going back to the office, actually I don’t have a need to. May this continue.
A lot of work has now been done on my parents house. Once the Lockdown had lifted to the degree that I could go back over there. The house has been cleared of furniture and a decorator is busy at work to ready the place for sale. The garden looked like something out of Jumangi. Dad hadn’t done much to it over the last couple of years, he wasn’t capable any more. Further to that he wouldn’t let me do anything either. Then we had some six weeks of no one doing anything. Nature then took over. I had a week off work and we worked on the place intently, with many bonfires, a lot of Strimmer and Chainsaw action, and a lot of moving of stuff with the wheel barrow. The gym wasn’t open, but I didn’t need it.
My boat project is nearing readiness for the maiden launch, well first for me anyway. The new trailer is complete, the boat transferred to it and the old trailer cut up and scrapped. I have replaced the trim sender unit so I can now see what the trim angle is on the desk. I determined a wiring error in the engine which prevented the Tachometer from working. I fixed that but still the meter didn’t work. Then I discovered that the Rectifier pack was fried, so a new one of those was fitted, and all systems are now GO.
Another project is up and running, which is partly to help with this damn virus. I have constructed a filtered air supply into the three bedrooms. Air is drawn from a redundant chimney, passes through a filter bank and is then fed via individual blowers to the bedrooms. It works a treat and sleeping is just great with all that oxygen. It cost me a couple of hundred in parts, but most of it I built with materials I already had lurking in the sheds.
I am part of a walking challenge at the moment. Our HR have challenged us to get into groups of ten and together accumulate the steps equivalent to walking from Land’s End to John O’Groats. That’s 1,767,744 steps. We have to do it in 31 days. I am administrating my team. There are seven other teams. After the first week we are nearly half way through!! So I am challenging the team to walk the distance back to Land’s End again!!
With all this going on I am physically “not bad”. Having just turned 51 I am mindful of my age. There is an argument between my mind and my body. The mind wants action, the body is saying “Give me a chance”. Damn thing had better sort its act out prompto, I’m not having any of this “Getting old” malarkey I can tell you. However, the walking does result in aches and pains and my speed walk is not quite so speedy anymore.
Right, time for another walk.
