…since I have written anything on this site and there is so much I could write about. What a year plus, it has been. What, 14 months we have been in this bizarre, surreal environment that is COVID-19. So many months just keeping your head down, hoping not to catch the virus, and if you did, hoping you would be one of the lucky ones to get over it with no issues.
Fortunately I didn’t get the virus. Well, not entirely true as I think I have had it, twice! Way back in about October 2019 I had a weird cold. Normally you get a sore throat, then the nose runs and the sneezing, and then it goes to the chest and you get a cough. Well, I went straight to the cough, then had cold like symptoms, then it just disappeared.
January 2020 I had this again, but also I had four consecutive nights of waking up, soaked in sweat. I felt off colour, the cough was about, I expect flu, but again it just disappeared. Only this time my friend also had it, except he was really ill. Now this is unusual in itself and he got hammered bad. He is rarely ill. Then his wife caught it from him. She now suffers “long COVID”. I think that was SAR-COV2 but we didn’t know it then.
I’ve had my first Astra Zenica vaccination, and I survived! I am waiting on my second. Now I hear they are starting to experiment with “Round 3”. I think this will be our life going forward, with regular boosters to keep use ahead of this damn Phage.
The great news is we are coming out of the lock-down conditions and life is slowly returning to something resembling Normal. I have got myself back to the Gym, and have been going for the last four weeks. Sam will be pleased to hear this, well, sort of. I have gained 1st, 5Ib during the winter. I was mortified. Further more I was having problems tying my shoe laces, because my gut was getting in the way.
Quite simply, this will not do!
So the Gym membership was brought into effect with two visits a week. It was hard work to start with and I was only a shadow of what I was capable of before Lock-down plunged the Gym into darkness. However I have gain strength and stamina, I can work longer and harder and I don’t feel such a wreak when I’m done. I have lost 3Ib. Not massive but I am losing inches off the gut, the shoe laces are easier, and the muscle mass is building. I have a good stone to shift yet but I am confident I can do this.
Thunder Duck, oh Thunder Duck. The boat has had problems. Am I surprised? Actually no. I’ll blog about that in a separate post.
Plus I have a few other projects to share.
