What is my excuse. Well, simply put, we’ve moved house. This site is hosted from home and that had to move as well. So, oh heck yes, so much has changed. The lab I built, which I vblogged on here, its been left behind. I have a nicer office in the new house with all the kit installed.

Yeah, I was kind of thinking what the hell am I doing? I’ve got the house pretty well set up and then I rip it all down. Why? You want a list?

The family wanted this. I have to take that on board.

I want a break from the past. Too much pain, too many memories. Need to start over.

I want to move here, its mad, totally crazy, but hell, you only live once.

The death of a friend, yeap, losing Steve was a major blow and it teaches us that nothing is promised.

So we have left Chippenham, we have left Wiltshire, we have moved into the southern most point of Hampshire, namely, The Isle of Wight.

We moved on the 21st November. It has been a stupidly busy time. The house is pretty good but there is a lot of work required, a lot of installation of stuff, and a small amount of fixing.

Let’s get a few things recorded.

We get a nice card and letter from our neighbour opposite. We visit on the 4th to say thank you. Have a cup of tea and a chat. John knows the previous, previous owner of our house and uses this to find out where the hell the stop cock is. Its behind the fitted Dish Washer! More on that in a minute. The next week, John dies. We learn this from the previous, previous owner of our house, who lives nearby.

23th December we attend a party next door. Annie has invited the neighbours. Ruth and I, plus Tim, get a bit toasted on Prosecco. But its a good evening and we met a few people.

24th December. It has been noted that the main oven appears to be having problems controlling temperature. Things are getting burnt. I investigate. The thermostat is buggered. So is the oven mode selector switch. Oven comes to bits to try and fix. Improved a bit but 120 degrees is actually 190 degrees, but it is stable, so the Turkey is saved for tomorrow.

25th December, good old Christmas day. The Turkey was a success. In the afternoon I’m installing network wiring. As a result we can watch films off the server in the living room, which we do in the evening.

26th December, good old Boxing day. I spend the morning, plumbing in a scale control system and connections so that we can have two washing machines and a dish washer in the kitchen. I did realise that if something went wrong with this plan then I was well and truly buggered as I had no other spare parts and the shops were shut. It all went well.

So the oven. A Smeg A2A-5, release 23rd March 2006. I don’t have the actual price but it appears to be in the region of £3000. The temperature controller on the main oven is very bad. The previous owner doesn’t seem to have noticed, and let the oven seriously overheat. This has broken the door seal and buckled the lining plates. I’ve fixed the metalwork but now I have to get parts for the control kit.

The mode selector switch on the main oven can only select “Traditional” and “Fan” oven. The other six modes don’t work. I don’t know yet what the other six modes are but I feel deprived. A new selector switch has been identified.

Also, one of the six gas rings doesn’t work. We have one more ring than we had before so I’m not so worried about that one.

Further reading finds the door glass has a habit of exploding. Gulp!

And that’s about it for the while. I don’t know why I write this stuff. I think it is mostly for me. No one else is interested and who can blame them.

Yes, it has been a while since I last posted on here. What is my excuse.
